HORTIWHITE®Sun-resistant Horticultural Glass The white coating consists of finely ground glass mixed with white paint, also referred to as "enamel." Hortiwhite® colour appearances may vary as a result of the production process. During the tempering process, the coating literally melts into the glass surface of the pane. This process is called "enameling. "The ceramic coating obtained in this manner lasts a very long time and is scratch-resistant. It is easy to clean and may be applied either on the inside or the outside surface. However, Van Looveren NV recommends that the coating be applied on the inside surface of the greenhouse, for the simple reason that it will remain clean much longer. Where Sundim deflects 50 % of the sunlight, Hortiwhite® antisolar capacity reaches 98 %. The white coating deflects 74 % and further absorbs 24 % of the light. Consequently, the solar heat only minimally affects the glass and coating, if at all. In addition, 74 % of the available interior light (be it natural or artificial) bounces off the white coating to further lighten the inside space. This results into a more efficient use of the interior light without causing an additional warm-up of the underlying space. Hortiwhite® is definitely a unique greenhouse covering product for technical and treatment areas, because it combines various aspects, such as ease of use, safety, resistance to the sun and esthetic value.
